Primary Care Services
From 1st April 2004 the GPs will be working under a new General Medical Services contract. This contract aims to ensure that the practice delivers:
Management of patients who are ill or believe themselves to be ill, with conditions from
which recovery is generally expected, for the duration of that condition, including relevant
health promotion advice and referral as appropriate, reflecting patient choice where
practicable.
General management of patients who are terminally ill.
Management of chronic disease in the manner determined by the practice, in discussion
with the patient.
Probably the biggest change patients will notice is that our surgeries will no longer be open on Saturday mornings, but will be opening our doors at 8.00am Monday to Friday.
As part of Berkshire East Primary Care Trust we are linked up with Crowthorne and Bracknell practices to purchase services for our patients in Berkshire, but historically the majority of our patients have chosen to visit Frimley Park Hospital, rather than Heatherwood, Wexham Park or Royal Berkshire. We will be campaigning to keep this option open to our patients as we believe it is better for their ongoing care to be treated locally.
