Booked GP appointments update - 16.03.2020

Due to the Coronavirus all booked GP appointments will now be done over the telephone. Do not come into the surgery and expect a call at the allotted time. Nurse appointments will remain unchanged, unless you recieve a text/call saying otherwise. Please visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ for further advice before visiting the surgery. Thank you for your co-operation under the current circumstances.

Patient Access Appointments - Update 09.03.2020

As a precautionary measure, we have been advised by NHS England with immediate effect to remove all patient accessible appointments which are bookable online. However, we have added the facility to book telephone appointments through patient access as an alternative.

For patients concerned that they may have coronavirus or may have come into contact with someone who has, the NHS 111 online service has created coronavirus pages that tell patients what they should do based on their particular circumstances.  These can be accessed at: https://111.nhs.uk/service/covid-19

NHS England are  recommending that all travellers who develop cough, fever, shortness of breath within 14 days of returning from  China,Thailand, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy or Macau or have come into contact with someone,  should self-isolate at home immediately and contact above website or  call NHS 111

PLEASE DO NOT COME INTO SURGERY - DO NOT GO TO A&E

As you know self-care is a great way to avoid getting ill in the first place, so keep washing your hands with soap and water, get plenty of sleep, eat and drink healthily, check your medicine cabinet and ensure you have sorted any prescriptions or vaccinations.

OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE ON PRESCRIPTION PLEASE SEE LATEST NEWS

Our Home Visits are now carried out by our Paramedic - he will have ID for checking and will arrive in a normal car.  He has full access to your notes and will be communicating with your Named GP.  Please request a Home Visit through Reception as normal.  The Paramedic may  phone to check your symptoms and the emergency beforehand so make sure we have your correct contact details.

We no longer offer Travel advice & Clinics. You  will need to go to your local Travel Clinic for this advice or go online to a travel Website such as fit-for-travel

Sign-Posting

For all appointments, to help the receptionist sign post you, you will be asked to give a short explanation of why you need any appointment.  This is to ensure you get to the right person to deal with your problem.  If your problem is of a sensitive nature please let the receptionist know that your problem is personal and they will record this for the clinician.

Appointment Types

We offer routine appointments and urgent appointments.  Pre-bookable appointments can be booked at any time, book on the session appointments can be booked morning or afternoon on the day you wish to have an appointment.

Booking Appointments on Line

Booking appointments on-line are convenient for you available from 12:30am for morning and 12:30 pm for the afternoon the book on session appointments will appear earlier on-line that can be obtained in the surgery or by telephone.  Please see our Patient Access page for all details of how to sign up for on-line services.  Please note you can only book on-line with your own registered GP.  Do check which days they hold surgery.

Please note that we are required to have 25% of appointments available on-line so the availability at 8am & 2pm will be reduced

Please note that any 'special' appointment such as minor surgery and medicals should not be booked on-line.  Medicals require paperwork to be completed beforehand, some contraception appointments may need prescriptions for devises to be fitted. Minor surgery can only be carried out by specialist GPs.

On-line appointments should be used for Routine only.  If in doubt please contact reception.

We regret we can't offer Nursing appointments on-line for similar reasons.  Many of Nurses are specialists and not all Nursing staff can offer the same appointments.

Medical Emergencies

If your need is a Medical emergency, all our appointments are booked and the problem will not wait for the afternoon or following day -  we can offer you  ‘5 minute’ Medical Emergency appointments after both morning and afternoon surgeries.  You may though be turned away if these are inappropriately booked for convenience rather than need.  These can only allocated as an overflow clinic when all book on the session appointments have been taken, morning or afternoon. You will need to attend and wait to be seen by the first free GP. This will be a triage appointment and you may be asked to attend to see your own GP at a later date if the GP feels this is more appropriate.   Please note that this may not be at the site you are registered with and we can not guarantee who the GP will be.

We offer these appointments as an extra and please ask patients to help us and other patients by not abusing these appointments when the problem would have waited for the next appointment.  These should not be used for prescriptions, referral chasing or minor ailments such as coughs and colds.

If you have a specific requirement for a routine appointment at a particular time of day, we recommend that you book in advance.  If your problem is more pressing, we can offer you a sooner appointment, but you may have to ring back and the timing of the appointment will be more restrictive.

Extended Hours Appointments changes

Sandhurst Group Practice have replaced our extended hours appointments with telephone and e-consults. These take place outside surgery times. Please check our e-consults section for your GP availability.

We also offer pre-booked face to face appointments every-evening and on a Saturday & Sunday at a Central location in Bracknell close to the Train & Bus Stations.  These are bookable through the surgery.  Please contact reception for more details.

Telephone Appointments for Advice

If you feel your problems can be dealt with over the phone we offer daily telephone appointments throughout the day.

Telephone appointments are available from a number of sources – doctor, nurse,  Pharmascist, etc.

It would be helpful if you explain the nature of your query to the receptionist who will then be able to advise you who to contact and when they may be available.
